Colour Trends 2010

With the continuation of the global financial crisis one can expect more tamed colour trends from Spring/Summer 2010. The “star” colour of the season is known to be the greens. Shades of red, pastels, refined pinks, mauves and neutrals are all in full evolution. Neutral tones create an elegant, subtle-bare look. Champagne, beige and an assortment of grey hues are in. Neutral colour style has emerged because of the excessive use of print in other trends this season. Overall designers showcased more muted colours with a strong emphasis on neutral hues (soft grays, greens, beige) these are all easy enough to match with other pieces. Last but not least, white and indigo blue remain very much in focus as a canvas for splashes of colour. Spring Summer 2010 brings more timeless pieces in keeping with consumer demand for outfits which are not so season specific.spring2010colortrends

Spring 2010 Tribal Prints

Unlike the whites, greys, and blacks that many designers displayed, the new tribal prints are a fresh entry for the coming season rocking the Spring 2010 runways. Almost every designer includes some exotic influences in their spring/summer 2010 collection. An essential to be seen this season are bright almost neon – accents targeted at beachwear which is ever-more influences by the street and club wear. Everything from boyfriend sweaters to fitted pants are coming in bold geometric patterns and animal prints. Stripes are still in, but not in their usual form, expect to see stripes take on a new almost optical illusion feel. Heavy print leggings are also going to be an especially hot must-have accessory for spring. Uses of embroidery or extremely colourful pop graffiti prints are likely to be seen a lot more.

Romantic Trend

The Romantic mood has always been a dominating trend in fashion. Over the years it had taken on new styles, shapes, colours, and silhouettes. Castaway and Ethereal romance are two main trends for women in Spring 2010. The romantic trend can be much of a dramatic approach with floral being key. There are many ways to wear this trend, it includes, sheer layers, lace, ruffles, and playful frills.  The raw and rugged effect is achieved with crinkled, deconstructed fabrics and layers. Soft dressed and featherweight tops will have a strong Grecian drape feel. Details like ethereal ruffles, flounces, and draping bring defining, subtle femininity. Designers usher in a new mood with soft pastels, sweet florals, fabrics that float, delicate lace, and feminine details that will make you feel like a princess in the modern-day fairy tale.

Spring 2010 Metallic’s

Sequins, glitter, beads, and shimmer – These are styles that make their way back almost every season. Metallic’s can be worn in a number of ways pulling of looks from one extreme to another. Whether it be punk/rock glam, street/club wear, or a red-carpet evening gown. Metallic’s always re-invent themselves. Metallic’s also make great accessories because a metallic gold or silver is a neutral fashion colour, so it will go with anything.metallics

Fashion Accessories 2010

Accessories are fun accent pieces to change up any old look. Spring 2010 offers many new accessories to update your wardrobe. A softer more simplified look of a small bag is key. Patterned and embellished scarves will also be seen much more in an incredibly chic form. Moving on from last seasons gold jewellery is this seasons muted silver which showed up brilliantly on everything from oversized cuffs to layered necklaces. The trend fringe is here giving a whole lot of look with little weight. The Urban Sporty look is a new one, dressed up as well as down and completely street chic. Saddle Leather consists of rich, natural-looking array of leather bags and shoes this season that are set in a very soft, neutral palette for spring. Plastics are small investments with big impact. Snakeskin is still an ideal contrast with smooth clothing fabrics. Studs can be hard edge or smooth, they enhance stylish, fashion-forward  detail to any outfit. Chic, sturdy, and classic; bags and shoes introduce a new category to the growing trend of natural looking accessories.
