If you’re a lover of lingerie, you will be happy to know that Spring 2010 expects you to show it off! Corsets, silk slips, and bras not-so-hidden beneath transparent fabrics were seen on the runways of Dolce & Gabanna, Jean Paul Gaultier, Karl Lagerfeld, and Nina Ricci, to name a few. For the more conservative group, this trend might be viewed as frivilous and showey, but to those who value their beautiful undergarments, now’s the time! And really, why not? With lingerie so beautifully constructed, it’s almost a shame that no one besides ourselves and our significant others get to lay eyes on them.
But with every fashion trend comes a suggestion of self control. Thought these styles may seem beautiful on the runway, the sidewalk is another story. Blantantly brandishing your newest La Vie En Rose cups to the world is not exactly the best idea. To avoid getting honked at and cat-called while still keeping in style, opt for purchasing bras with embelished straps to wear under tank or strapless tops, lace bandeaus to wear under v-neck tops, and silk/lace slips that hang just below your hemline to give the smallest hint of romatic flare.
