It is the best time of year again, New York Fashion Week!
New York Fashion week tents in Bryant Park
Bryant park has been taken over by the fashion world once again for the Fall 2010 RTW shows. It sadly will be the last time the tents will be used for fashion week, come the fall the tents of Bryant park are being traded for the Lincoln Center. Its sad that they are moving such a famous New York Fashion symbol which represents the heart of the fashion industry in New York. This was once where you would go to buy trim and buttons as well as the location where major factories constructed the garment. The move is happening right during the decline of this district as the garment factories are being shut down in order to turn the buildings into luxury lofts and hotels. Some designers believe that the move is for the better, they say it will put fashion on the same level as the other art forms that are displayed at the Lincoln Center.
The festivities kicked of yesterday, February 11th. The line up this year is better than ever with designers like Clavin Klein, Ralph Lauren, BCBG, Max Azaria and many more. BCBG and Ports were the first big shows yesterday, as well as the Heart’s Truth Red Gown Collection which benifits the National Heart Lung and Blood Institute. There is much more to come as fashion week has just begun.
